Playa Del Carmen

Known for its palm-lined beaches and laid back vibe, Playa Del Carmen is one of Mexico's perfect coastal town to wind down at. Once a fishing village, its now home to more than 50 hotels, bars and nightclubs. With average summer temperatures reaching 32°C, it's a great spot to come and enjoy. Along the Caribbean coastline, the white sand beaches and blazing sun go hand-in-hand with a mouth-watering cocktail and some freshly made tacos. When we visited, we stayed at an All-inclusive resort which we definitely recommend doing to make the most of your down time. Chichen Itza

If you've never been to visit these Mayan ruins then it has to be on your bucket list! It is one of the largest preserved archaeological sites in the world, dating back to the early 400s A.D, this UNESCO Wonder of the World is truly breathtaking. It takes just under 2 hours to get to here from Playa del Carmen, you can pre book a trip including transfers from your hotel before you travel (like we did) for around £45 per person. This price usually includes a tour guide, lunch, ticket admissions, cenotes and even a chance to tarzan swing into the cenote if you're brave enough! We booked it with Viator who were great!

Tulum

A small town in the Riviera Maya, this luxury destination is home to an extensive range of 5* Hotels and historical ruins. Whether you want an outdoor Jungle Rave, a day at the Cenotes or a relaxing day in a 5* Resort by the pool, Tulum really does have it all. It's slightly more upmarket than Playa del Carmen and Cancun, which all adds to the relaxing and unique experience Tulum has to offer.

Xcaret Acitivies

If you haven't planned any activities to do in Mexico, then you have to BOOK THIS. One of the most exhilarating things to do in Mexico, this Cancun Combo package is the perfect thing for any adrenaline junkie. We recommend any 3 of the Xcaret parks, all with different activities such as snorkeling, zip-lines, jungle off-roading, rafting through underwater caves and much more! We wish we bought this package before we got there, as when we were there it was sold out and to buy a ticket off a rep was costing around £160 for 1 park admission, whereas with Viator you get 2 park admissions for £210. It's a no brainer!
